    Pomo Basket start. Small basket start made by Elsie Allen in 1970-72 when MCM first opened. Weave is plain twined, "made with white or gray willow with sedge roots." Coiled basin-shaped basket, non-interlocking stitch, single rod "scrap" foundation; work direction is rightward; starting knot is twining start; unidentified materials except light yellow (Xeraphyllum tenax) horizontal bands. Fair condition. Some weft threads worn out to expose warp. 29 cm diameter, 9.5 high

    Basket. Attributed to Northern Pomo. Collected Sherwood. Open work twined burden basket, conical in shape; whole redbud shoots exclusively; reinforced edge with three rows of alternate pairs twining. Condition is fair and fragile; many breaks (2 large ones in rim) 51 cm high.
