Description |
Pomo Basket start. Small basket start made by Elsie Allen in 1970-72 when MCM first opened. Weave is plain twined, "made with white or gray willow with sedge roots." (Elsie Allen, March 1972) Materials: warp - wollow; weft - split roots - sedge. Working ends are not broken off - unusual and good feature for exhibit (L. Dawson 1/17/81). Dimensions: 5.5 cm diameter of woven start; 3 cm depth of woven start. 40 cm projection of willow warp rods. |
