Gift Basket. Attributed to Southern Pomo. Valley Ford. Coiled shallow bowl-shaped basket, three-rod foundation, willow warp, sedge weft; twined start; exterior vessel walls once decorated with feathers (now just stubs) pattern was star or floral with red woodpecker; green mallard and yellow feathers; two rows of quail top knots (most missing); string used on beads appears handspun; Condition good overall (no feathers, however) 6 cm high, 23.5 cm diameter at rim |
